'Kurdistan's Only Independent English Newspaper' Run by AUIS Students

Awat newspaper, which defines itself as the "only independent English newspaper in Kurdistan region", published its second issue on May 1, 2011. 

The newspaper, which published its first issue on April 1, 2011 is run by a group of young college students. 

Amed Latif Omer, an AUIS freshman, is the owner on behalf of the newspaper. Zana Jaff, Bery Majeed and Marwan Muhammad Hazim are also AUIS students working with the newspaper.
