Big Victory for AUI-S Students: My Name is AUI-S

After the unwise decision of removing Sulaimani from the official name of the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani, the absolute majority of the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani stood against the decision showing their anger and anxiety.


The decision, still not clear who is responsible for it, was rejected by the absolute majority of the AUI-S students. The AUI-S administration rushed to say that it was only an idea and not a decision.

Elia Boggia, AUI-S Communications Director, told KNN channel that they had plans to change the logo and the website not the name.

Dr. James Harrigan, while confirming the news of the name change yesterday, said that AUI-S will change its name today.

AUI-S asked its students in an e-mail to visit Registrar's office to get their new e-mail addresses, but today regretted the idea and stopped distributing the new e-mail with aui.edu.iq address.

This change comes after the strong protests arranged by the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani students against the unwise decision. This is considered a big victory for the student body and student activism at AUI-S
