Student Eye Bloggers Partake in Forming First Iraqi Social Media Network

Young Iraqi Bloggers and Social Media activists at the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani after forming and announcing the Iraqi Network for Social Media.

Yesterday, 13 May, 2011 as it was announced before, Student Eye bloggers along with many other Iraqi social media and civil society activists participated in forming Iraqi Network of Social Media. The meeting was held at AUIS.
This network was the result of a long discussion and a needy step to bring and direct all Iraqi Social Media activists together. The network will work for advocating Social Media in Iraq as a free body and far from any, religious, national and gender based differences.
In the meeting, needs and obstacles in front of this new trend of media were broadly discussed and all parties gave their suggestion and inputs.
The event was arranged by International Media Support (IMS). Next meeting will be held in Arbil which will follow a five day of intensive TOT training.

Meanwhile, this team of young Iraqis will work to together to introduce this new field of citizen journalism and set the basics in their future meetings.
This project supported by IMS will be supported for three years and supervised by IMS and local civil society organizations.
