Why would Dr. Barham - who runs both AUIS and the Kurdish government - be involved in arresting his students? I seriously don't get it. Any explanations?

Really this blog should be named Dana's news blog init? The first independent student media yeah right keep on dreaming by the way what did you eat yesterday Dana?

Mark, you are 100% right. I think this kind of arresting is running by PUK party, and Dr. Barham cannot control them as you know that Sulaimani has been totally corupted by them. Suli is out of Barham's control in terms of politics.

political activist, yes i like it.

Barham Salah is agree with arresting anyone who is against his party and his government. Dr. Barham lost everything in Sulimani. no one love his way of governing. One day will come we all say to him leave this country and never come back. we do not need you. we do not need your party. you do not belong to here and leave us in peace. if these leaders we have go to anywhere, they will teach any nation how to steal. they have certifications for stealing.

That doesn't make any sense to me. Barham is the head of the PUK, no? If Barham doesn't control Suli politics, what does he do?

Poor Mark, you are so out of touch. These comments just reveal how little you really know about what's going on here.

I wonder, how many of these students would have latched on to Dr. Barham as the villain if you hadn't mentioned him, Mark? Pretty please can you suggest someone more titillating, like Wonder Woman being responsible? It would be far more interesting than the usual suspects.

I asked a simple question and didn't get an answer. I repeat: why would Barham, who is both the head of the Kurdish government and AUI-S, be involved in arresting his own students?

The question itself is ignorant.
Everyone knows that Dr. Barham doesn't run the KRG.

You've got a president and a vice president, neither of whom are Dr. Barham.

His role has actually changed since you got fired, Mark.

Dr. Barham is the Prime Minister of the KRG, third in line. (And also a member of the PUK.) That must count for *something* - if not, then what's the point? What *does* the man do? Yes, his role has changed since I left: He went from deputy PM to PM.

Barham is also Chairman and Founder of AUI-S. I assumed that the Prime Minister of the Kurdish Government has power within that government. So, why would he allow the government to arrest his students? Are you arguing that he in fact has no power in the government? If so, why doesn't he resign? In any case, what evidence do you have to support your assertions?

What an idiot.
