Fun with AUI-S (Party Special)

by Astios

Quick notes from the party:

·       *  The majority of the AUI-S students were not at the party. there might have been a different party somewhere else. But they were not here.
·         The first hour of the dance was only for boys. I didn’t see any “ Only Gents” flyer on the floor

·        Dr. Moulakis was very brief or too brief.  He finished even before starting. Now, his English undoubtedly was excellent, so it can’t be an issue. but he might be used to that kind of brief speech, because in Afghanistan, where he is coming from, long speeches are not guaranteed. You might break down at any moment, just as Mr. Karazai did.
·         The restrooms were crowded as hell. That was not the strange thing though. The complains coming out from the restrooms were. One was saying, “I am really bored, I would like to fight with someone.” Someone else was saying, “I am sleepy.” Only Dr. Aso’s figure in front of the door reminded me: I was in a party.
·         The microphone didn’t work well. Consequently, our singers didn’t sound good. That is how I like to justify the horrible things I heard tonight
·         The definition of being Unfortunate: you look for some people, they are not there. you don’t look for some people, they are in front of you.
·         the short comedy was really short, but not comic. I hope they have not spent too much time training for it.
·         A math teacher was dancing for the first time since the parties have started. Last year he was trying to come up with a theory for Kurdish dance, I am sure he has come up with some results.
·         It is time for the arrangers to think before time for a party like that it is really getting boring, if you want to hear the truth.

AUI-S Got Talent
Like almost everyone else, I waited with a great deal of enthusiasm for the “AUI-S Got Talent” part. I did because I had seen programs of the same nature on TV. I wanted to experience it live this time. of course I didn’t expect any Michael Jackson imitation, doing voodoo, cutting people into pieces, swallowing sharp object or singing fantastic songs, I just wanted to see some different people who are really talented. But unfortunately, or may be fortunately, whatever done in the name of talent was a common thing. bad voices? We all have it. Dancing? Who can’t do it. Playing Daf on the same rhyme for 5 minutes? I can do it with plates. So, really, where was the talent? I think I saw some talents out there, they were white and short!!!

A small comparison table between the Tea Party and AUI-S party

Tea Party
AUI-S Party
The name is derived from a historical event
the name doesn’t have to do with anything historical
The two words are bound to each other, so it is used as one term
The words do not have any relations with each other, they are seen together once or twice a year
the historical idea of “no taxation without representation”  is related historically to the movement
The idea of “no ID, no entry” is the most famous feature of the party
It is against wasteful spending
It is all wasteful spending
It is accused of being racist
Race is not an issue, as long as you can dance, that is it..
Sarah Palin is a famous figure of the movement
I can’t say it

Last question?

Where did all the Kabab left go?
Answer for last year: it went to the room (         ) at the dorms.
Answer for this year: I really don’t know yet. Believe me.

Oh Yes, the provost reminds me Calvin Coolidge, God bless him, with his brief statement, I did not really get it, nor did anybody in the party.
OMG, is this a drama that students have been working on it for a long time, Mr. P. with this kind of work you’re getting nowhere(do something interesting).
I thought AUIS is a place for learning English; it was where nobody was allowed to speak Kurdish or Arabic, but I saw Mr. O was singing in Kurdish. Probably in these coming years we're going to study in Kurdish.

Oh, give me a break, Mrs. D is preparing parties very well; aha, I got a hypothesis: Does she like to give a speech, so everybody knows her. I got a theory: yes she likes to be famous.
But I have a suggestion, why does not she elect herself, May she becomes a president, so Iraq gets released from political crises. There she can prove herself.
I think DR. F proves that with given 20m vertical and 10 horizontal in the Oscar hall, he can dance from point X to the point Y according to Postulate I without any problem (I think he has been working on for a year).

Hhhhhhhhhhhhhh So huge. you raelly burned them. they deserve more and more and more. I like the comparison table, it's awsome! actually, i didnt see any talents as well, yet some of them couldn't get the gifts, pffffffffffff. The speakers and microphones were just junk! in 1992 MAm Jalal gave a speech in a city called Rania; he had the same microphone; i think it was just that. in fact, i will never go to such parties and Oscar Hall as well. Just Boring.
Remember, if a person says that the party was nice, soon realize that he was a drunk there. That's it, TRUTH.

Anonymous said...

Thanks God I was not there. I knew it was going to be like that.

The party was awesome, I had fun %95 of the time...I wish all the parties I go to are like this one. Thanks for those who arranged it. I danced all the night.
good job AUI-S, and keep having such parties.

Anonymous said...

with my regard but you have to tell the truth as well. because i was there and it is not true that for the first hour just the boys were dancing, but also i was the first five minutes.

thanks

what are you trying to say Miss.Hazha??? Indeed, I didn`t get your point at all. I just realized that it was negative.

Ako Esmail

Anonymous said...

Miss Jabar you are not a hundred percent but a thousand percent WRONG. I don't know whether you are a Qaz or not, but according to postulate 9, in Geometry Book, you still are. because If every student, includying you, give $10,400 to the Suli university or any Iraqi unys, they will not only arrange you a such terrible party once a year but also will fry 2 cows to make Kabab for all students "Each to Each," (Preposition 13)
I'm totally petrified about you; are you studying at a liberal university??? if really yes, could u tell me what the main goals of this kind of universities are.
According to "definition 23," it should be "CRITICAL THINKING", (Constr).
in addition to above, do you know how the dorm-student situation is. 6 students in a flat that is only 2 rooms while you may have two alone. Shouldn't we know why????"So, if your place is hot, remember that there are some people in the cold" (dewakay 3alaadden" So WE should absolutely complain about this. WE should know where does this huge amount of our money go Dinar by Dinar because we are not sheeps anymore, and thats us who are in the cold.
You shouldnt also be proud of yourself that you're at a "Wonderful" university,AUI-S, otherwise ""God will punish u and kick u out of AUI-S to go and try Suly unversities parties where u starve till the end OF YOUR LIFE!""
Thank you
Mr. 7aqba u raqba

Hazha and Amo, you should have very strong reasons to refute this kind of arguments; if you don't have any, please let them express their ideas as much as they can because they have a lot. For example, they pointed out more than several EX-CE-LE-NT ideas. They have fully amount of right to know where this amound of funds go while there are 6 students in a very small flat without table-studying, arranged bathes ETC...
You Brother,
Shexa

dear Mr. 7aqba u raqba:
first, all what you said is in ur point of view
second, i am not a QAZ this is my 5th semester at AUIS which means that is my third year at AUIS and i have been to all of AUIS parties, i found this party good and i had soooo much fun
i am sure u did also
i want to tell you that if u think, you will know where ur money goes. ur teacher's salaries are where ur money goes. also i wanna tell u that most of the students who live in the dorm have scholarships so is is soooooooooooo good that they have buses take them to the dorm and bring them to auis while other students includlnig my sister who are in suly university pay lots of money to taxi drivers. dont tell me that they get money from the university because i will tell u that it is not enough even to eat a sandwich a day. beside aaaaaal of that think about the time when u graduate, will ur certification be like anyone who just graduated from any university in Iraq, so thank GOD that u are in a student in this great university while other dream about it. oh i forgot to tell u that it is true that u should think critically, but not about everything cause there are things which u cant deny or criticize. thanks alot hazha jabar

guys we are talking about the party..why do u mix the case with ur doormatory???it's totally a different subject!!!!so what should we do if u feel cold or hot??

HAZHA JABAR said...

dear kak Ako Esmail, i wanna say that be thankful that ur are ALL studying in this great university. ABOVE ALL, dont forget that this university made u able to argue with me now in English! while other student graduate from other universities in Iraq can not speak a sentence.

Hazha xan, i know that Aui-s is a prestigious school, but i deserved to be studying in it. Also, Auis was not the sole source to make me speak with you in English, but I tried myself idefatigably. I am not complaining about Auis but about some students who still don`t know how to write a sentence correctly. Just take it easy.
thank you hazha xan

Hazha Jabar, you need be aware of something, don’t talk about the dormitory. As a student who lives in the dorm, we asked hundreds of times Mrs., Daloyee to provide us better dorms. First, last year 9 teachers and faculty stuff lived in 9 apartments, while now each apartment contains 6 student, which mean 54 students right now are living in those apartments. It is easy to make such a party with 3 hours dance, dinner, and nothing else. Remember, we did not come here from different cities in Kurdistan region and other parts of Iraq to play football in those apartments, WE CAME HERE FOR STUDYING. MS, Hazha, you live in the sweet house, you don’t have any problem with food caz your mom would make it for you (I know you sometimes make food), but I'm talking generally. I live with 5 other students, with only ONE room for sleeping, studying, and with a bathroom also for 6 of us. How do you judge this? Can you live and study in such a situation? Imagine you live with 5 other girls in the same kind of situation, HOW would be your reaction? Just Imagine for once.

Anonymous said...

Hazha: Doesn't ur sister have her own car?????????

Anonymous said...

Hazha could you be with fife students in a room???? Think about them, may be you're wrong. I think their argument is that they dont have a good place to live in, yet AUI-S is spending money in useless and unimportant "Or less important" things.
I hope guys will understand each other.

Best,
Helper

We emphasize one more time, no personal attack is allowed here. All thoughts are welcome as long as they serve the freedom of speech we aspire, but personal attacks, baseless accusations and unfriendly words are not welcome...

This very column is dedicated to the world of humor, you don't need to take things so seriously. Try not to speak on the behalf of anyone else. The AUI-S administration read this and they can have their say. It is better to be yourself.

Thanks for your active participation,

Student Eye Team

i impressed by what i read. this the place where students can have a real conversation and have thier oppinion about current subjects. but what i did not expect was that the blog's team comment when it says"Try not to speak on the behalf of anyone else. The AUI-S administration read this and they can have their say. It is better to be yourself." the blog should not be a part of conversation unless there is something and requirs answer form the blog. the blog should not support one's oppinion against others. the blog should not accuse others who are not agree with what the blog want to say. everyone has an oppinion and when a person has different attitude does not mean that the person is speaking on others behalf. this is like a test for student eye and we want the student eye pass this test.

the message for the guys who spoke badly about talent show. for the next party, the stage is more than free for you and kiss your hands let's know what you can...... A kurdish proverb says speaking is not due experiencing is essential, it also says the sound of drums is nice in a remote place

Its easy to criticize people who stand up to do talent. The world will always be divided into those who do, risk, and achieve, and those who watch and criticize from the confort of their couch.

As for me, I had a very nice time at the party. I was pround of my students who participated in the talent show and I would recommend we consider encouraging students who take risks in order to contribute to the university's well-being.

Constructive criticism can be a healthy, meaningful tool for improvement, but there's a fine line.

Anonymous said...

Hope we can see some constructive criticism to make the next party better, I suggest you guys write some recommendations. Thanks.

Anonymous said...

I think both sides have some kind of truth. I am really impressed with the courageous students who went on the stage and performed their best, but on the other side, the people who were in charge of the party, could do a better job preparing for the party.

There was an obvious lack of preparation.

AUI-S should know that party is not only dancing. It is dancing with other things.

But still, good discussion

GET A LIFE MAN !!!

Anonymous said...

Hey, all of you, enjoy your lives. It is too short and lasts no longer than a qwnchka jgarayak.!! So, why are you arguing for nothing?

Let's come back to the original discussion(The Party)..

One can arrange parties when girls are without a trace of self-importance..!
I honestly want to say I was trying to dance with a pretty girl(--------) whom I liked soooo much(because she was "smooth") Yet, I did not have that chance because she used to leave every single position I went to.. We were like tom w Jerry..
For short, when students are not that such selfish, parties automatically go right and become extremely enjoyable..
Students- both males and females- are "thirsty" and need to gather face to face, not looking at each another in the distance...!
For example, we can have parties like we see in the movie, The American Pie "Beta House"..!!!!!
Am I right guys?

yours: Broken Heart

i enjoyed this argument, and there is sommething that im worried about which is this university seems like it goes backward, as we see (1) the # of the students are STILL increasing in this college, which means in classes, too. as for this smester, 2 more groups of students were accepted in this college after two weeks of the start of our new senester. as a result, we have 10 sections of students for each teacher ONLY for the academec program. there must be some kind of explanations for that.
(2)almost all of the teachers they provided have just a master degree and thats all. in Mr.nihaw class i fell like im in ( zher prdaka). as no one is listening, and he does not ask anyone to stop YAllING, i pay 10$ for a single class to listen to a teacher doesn't even dare to ask for silence in the class,, our individual homework now became group work. all these corruptions must end.
(3) the duration of a lecture is only 50 minutes. is that suppose to be a god damn enough time for students to understand 1/3 of a chapter, which is the usuall amount of homework assingments for a single lecture?,,, so, my point is that i believe that this college is starting to consentrate more on their goals of getting lots of money rather than on our benefits.

SO, it is all about money, and i support those who complained about what happens to our money.

come on guys what is wrong with u all my sister doesnt have a car and me neither. the issue was about the party why do u mix it with other issues such as the dorm?
for u all who have been talking about the dorm do u expect to come from far away and have comfortable nice place to live in and a FLPENE to cook u meals? of course i would accept that fact to live with 5 students and do not complain if my parents lived in a different city. are u jealous that my mum cooks me meals? well u can go home sty with ur MUM to have nice kurdish food but will u have a nice future? think about it

I am sad. I am SO SO SAD actually, beucase what I have already expected about your mentality, now is implicit..! Now it is unveiled by yourself...!
Having such a foolish idea like, "for u all who have been talking about the dorm do u expect to come from far away and have comfortable nice place to live...?," extremely disapointed me.. Why not Hazha xan? What do you tell the ones who came far from Bagdad, like you, and have a cool place to live here in Suli? "honestly" Students do not deserve that "according to you". but do you really?!!!!!
