Our AUI-S community which includes all the different sects and ethnicities of Iraq is endangered by an irresponsible decision. We thought that during our silence others will also choose to be silent, but they spoke. And unfortunately, their speech was ridiculous.
We cannot allow anyone exploit the stupid decision of changing the name of AUI-S and use it to cause a conflict between the different ethnic and religious groups in AUI-S.
The wrong decision to remove Sulaimani from AUI-S's name cannot be corrected by another wrong. AUI-S students who are coming from the other parts of Iraq cannot be blamed for this decision. Student Eye is in a careful research to find the one who has made the decision. Before then, any accusation against any party is wrong and unjustified.
We are all brothers and sisters for we are all humans. Let's not abort the great dreams of Martin Luther King whom we all hopefully know:
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
Let's judge others by the content of their character not by the color of their skin, their language, or their religion.

In my articles, which are in Arabic, about the AUI-S, I always translated it as الجامعة الأمريكية في السليمانية American University in Sulaymania. Well, there are the American University in Beirut, not Lebanon, and the American University in Cairo, not Egypt, American University in London, Sharjah, Dubai, Kuwait (the city) etc.
Yes, it is stupidity.
